Guy Samuelson, Owner Operator of  CrossFit Panoply

Guy “House of Pain” Samuelson is a retired Detective Sergeant from the New Milford, Connecticut Police Department, a former officer with the St. Cloud, Florida Police Department, and a former Deputy with the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office in Florida. He continues to work as a Reserve Deputy with the Sheriff’s Office.

Serving the citizens of New Milford for 20 years, Sergeant Samuelson supervised both the Patrol Division and the Investigative Services Bureau and held specialized training in both fields. He was a member of New Milford P.D.’s dive and recovery team and is IPMBA certified. Sergeant Samuelson is an adjunct instructor at the Connecticut Police Academy for handcuffing and L.O.C.K.U.P. He has also instructed in use of force for the recertification of Connecticut police officers.

Samuelson has been a certified police instructor for over 26 years covering Handcuffing, O/C, Straight Baton, Use of Force, Firearms, Driving, Fitness and all hands on training, including the L.O.C.K.U.P. system. With many years of martial arts training in his background including Chinese Kenpo and Mixed Martial Arts, he is a Lifetime Member of the United States Martial Arts Association. Certified by N.A.S.M., he has worked as a personal trainer for Golds Gym and New York Sports Clubs. He is certified and has taught cardio kick boxing and Cycle Reebok. He has also worked as a strength and conditioning coach for the local high school football teams in Connecticut.

Guy Samuelson has been training with Lieutenant Dillon and Sergeant Anderson in the L.O.C.K.U.P. system since 2002. He is the southern region L.O.C.K.U.P. representative and has been involved in the continual development of this combat system and the certification of new instructors. Samuelson is also an instructor for the Soulis Shooting System in conjunction with L.O.C.K.U.P., developed by Retired Jacksonville Sheriff Deputy Pete Soulis.

Selected as a member of the L.O.C.K.U.P. Travel Demo Team, Samuelson is an avid physical fitness practitioner and continues to instruct law enforcement officers in physical fitness. As part of the demo team Guy has presented/demoed at the United States Martial Arts Association Conference in St. Louis, Missouri as well as throughout Connecticut, New York, and Florida. He has instructed a program called Police Combat Fitness. The program develops a solid foundation for the physical fitness needs of the officer using modern day fitness and weight training techniques that are consistent with the combative philosophies of L.O.C.K.U.P.

Reserve Deputy Samuelson is now serving as the High Liability Training Coordinator with the Criminal Justice Academy of Osceola in Florida and is certified with the State of Florida as a Defensive Tactics, Firearms, and Driving Instructor. The lead fitness instructor at the academy, Samuelson was chosen as a subject matter expert in the development of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s Physical Fitness Course.

Additionally, Samuelson instructs a group fitness training class called High Intensity Interval Training through the Full Circle MMA School located in St. Cloud, Florida. He is a promoter/independent representative with Visalus and the 90 Day Challenge 3.0. He recently received his level 1 certification from Crossfit and also a certification from the Coopers Aerobic Institute in Texas as a Law Enforcement Fitness Specialist.

Guy Samuelson has a B.A. in Human Relations from Western Connecticut University, a M.S. in Criminal Justice Administration from Andrew Jackson University, and Adult Education Instructor Certification from the State of Florida.

 

Robert Barroso, Owner Operator of CrossFit Panoply

Robert “Gunny Highway” Barroso served in the United States Marine Corps from 1981-1986, while stationed at the Kaneohe Marine Corps Air Station, Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii he deployed to S.E. Asia with the Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron (HMM-265) aboard the USS Belleau Wood LHA-3. While stationed in Hawaii with Marine Air Group 24, Robert completed the 1984 and 1985 Honolulu Marathon.  Robert also completed 1,000 miles of running. He received the 1,000 mile running club award by the Commanding General of Kaneohe Marine Corps Air Station.

Robert continued with his Military service as a Scout with the Headquarters, Headquarters, Company, (HHC) 124, Infantry Regiment in Miami Florida. After relocating to Central Florida, Robert enlisted the United States Army with the 705th Military Police Company in Cocoa Beach Florida. In 2012 Robert completed the United States Marine Corps Marathon 10k in Washington D.C. and completed several other runs for charity within central Florida.

Continuing in his pursuit in physical fitness, Robert joined the ZMotion Cycling club and completed two MS 150 mile treks from the University of Miami to Key Largo Florida raising money for M.S. Robert is a certified Spinning Instructor who also founded the South Orlando Cyclist and ran a Cycling group helping Cyclist throughout central Florida.

Additionally, Robert helped in the creation of a group fitness training class called High Intensity Interval Training through the Full Circle MMA School located in St. Cloud, Florida, with his business partner Guy Samuelson. Robert is a promoter/independent representative with Visalus and the 90 Day Challenge 3.0.

Robert attended The US Postal Service’s Management Academy and was awarded a certificate in Postal Management. He also attended the Florida State University and completed the Certified Public Manager program (CPM). Robert received his degree in Criminal Justice Administration through Columbia College and is continuing his education towards a Masters in Criminal Justice.

In 1988-1992 Robert Joined the City of Oakland Park Police Department, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida as a Reserve Police Officer and became a Regional Director with the Florida Police Reserve Association, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Robert assisted other Police Reserve Officers promoting Police Reserves in south Florida.   After retiring with the U.S. Postal Service, Robert was hired by the Osceola County Corrections Department as Chief of Courthouse Security Operations.  Robert now works for the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office as a Deputy Sheriff and is the Owner Operator of CrossFit Panoply promoting fitness to his fellow Law Enforcement Officers in central Florida.

Justin Boutilier, CrossFit Panoply Coach

Justin “Dirty Harry” Boutilier is originally from southeast Michigan. He is a graduate of St. Cloud High School and The University of Central Florida. Justin is currently a Sergeant with the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office and been employed there for over 10 years. During that time he has served in the patrol, investigative and special operations divisions. Sgt. Boutilier is an active high liability instructor for both his agency and the police academy. Sgt. Boutilier is a defensive tactics/combative, P.T. and firearms instructor. Sgt. Boutilier is also a member of Sheriff’s Office S.W.A.T. team. Sgt. Boutilier serves on the entry team and his duties include door breacher, less lethal munitions and chemical munitions operator.
Sgt. Boutilier has a background in Olympic weightlifting, in which he has helped implement in our facility. Sgt. Boutilier is often called upon to officiate local high school weightlifting meets, in which one of the primary events in the “clean and jerk.” Sgt. Boutilier aside from being a P.T. instructor at the police academy is also a CrossFit Level 1 instructor.
In his spare time Sgt. Boutilier spends every minute possible with his beautiful wife and their two little boys. All of whom he professes will be future Crossfiters.

Clint Wise, CrossFit Panoply Coach

Clint “The Punisher” Wise was born in Wichita, KS and moved to Florida at the age of 10. Clint has always been involved in athletic sports from an early age. Clint got his start playing football as a child and switched to playing competitive tennis at the age of 12. After being ranked in the top 100 State wide for the Junior Tennis Association at the age of 14, Clint suffered an elbow injury that quickly ended his tennis career.

After High school, Clint became involved in weight lifting and soon switched to more of a circuit training type regimen for his workouts. Seeing the benefit early on, he Became involved in Crossfit type training in 2008.

In November of 2012, Clint attended and received his Crossfit certification from Crossfit, Inc. Although his teaching style his very intense, demanding the most out of every participant, he will inspire you to “be better than you were yesterday”. After all, his favorite quote is “you can do anything 5 times.”
